Abbie and Colin in the delivery room at Northside. We arrived at about 10pm on Sunday, August 3rd. Abbie started having contractions at about 7:30 that evening. Colin was at the lake but Nora was able to come over at about 8:30. We called the doctor and called her mom. The contractions started coming about five minutes apart pretty quickly. Abbie took a shower and shaved her legs before going to the hospital. By 9:30 Colin was home and the contractions were coming on strong. Abbie could barely make it into the car to get to the hospital. Colin wanted to flag down a cop on the way to Northside but Abbie said, "I forbid you!" At the hospital it took forever to get into a room but once we got settled everything was okay. At about midnight, Abbie had an epidural and our midwife, Christine, said to try to get some rest and she would check on us at 4:30am. Nora went home at that point. At 4:30 or so Christine came back in to check on Abbie and she was ready to go. We called Nora who came back to the hospital and started trying to have the baby at about 5:15. Abbie pushed three times and being in shape must make you a good pusher because Rory was born at 5:26am.

Here is Rory in my arms just after she was born.

Here is Colin cutting the cord. Originally he said he didn't want to watch but he saw the whole thing!
